Indications for herniated intervertebral disc surgery

When conservative treatment fails

The minimally invasive TESSYS® approach is suitable for almost every kind of herniated intervertebral disc surgery when conservative treatment fails, when neurological signs progress, and in the event of acute cauda equina compression.

Every operation for herniated intervertebral disc – including the TESSYS® approach – should be preceded by:

• appropriate diagnostic imaging tests for confirmation of the diagnosis
• detailed discussion with the patient about risks, benefits, and alternatives, as well as about post operative care and rehabilitation.

The TESSYS® Disposable Access Kit provides instruments and a spinal needle for intraoperative discography, should discography be indicated.

The TESSYS® equipment can be complemented with TESSYS® Spinal Stenosis to transforaminally treat bony stenosis or with the special instruments from the iLESSYS® set to obtain a 360° access to the spinal canal.

The Shrill is available for convenient bone resection and the Endovapor for radiofrequency tissue ablation.
