Dr. Michael Schubert completed his studies in Göttingen, after which he worked as a surgeon in Alstätten, St. Gallen (Switzerland) and Bad Wildungen. From 1997 Dr. Schubert worked in the Orthopaedic Specialist Clinic in Bad Oeynhausen, taking over the role of Head of Spinal Surgery there in 1999. In 2001 he transferred to trauma surgery in the Euromed Clinic in Fürth, and from 2003 to 2008 worked in the Alpha Clinic as a spinal specialist, where his main focus was on the use of endoscopic operating techniques in the areas of cervical and lumbar spine surgery. In May 2008 he founded the APEX Spine Institute together with Dr. Armin Helmbrecht.
Dr. Schubert has been a Senior Physician with the ATOS Private Clinic Munich since September 2008. He is one of the world’s leading spine surgeons of endoscopic operation techniques, and is a recognised specialist and trainer in this field. His studies published in this area include “Endoscopic Transforaminal Discectomie for Recurrent Lumbar Disc Herniation” (Spine, Volume 33, Number 9, 2008) together with Dr. Thomas Hoogland, and "Microsurgical versus Endoscopic Treatment of Lumbar Disc Herniations" (ATOS News, July 2009) together with Dr. Armin Helmbrecht. Dr. Schubert has been a joimax® senior faculty member since 2005, and has performed over 4000 TESSYS® cases.
