Dr. Alastair Gibson is an experienced orthopaedic and neurosurgeon, specialising in degenerative spine diseases, back and neck pain, spinal, foot and ankle surgery. With over 30 years expertise in this field, he is a respected surgeon and researcher in the spinal field. His research interests include reviews of spine surgery, treatment of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, and the development of cervical and thoracic spinal implants.
Dr. Gibson works as a consultant spinal surgeon at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, and a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at St. John's Hospital in Livingston. In addition, he is an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Edinburgh, and a member of the British Association of Spine Surgeons, the Spine Arthroplasty Society, the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine, the British Cervical Spine Society, the New York Academy of Sciences, and the British Orthopaedic Association.
